Are you considering newborn photography but have some questions?
Don’t worry, I’m here to help!
As a newborn photographer, I understand the value and importance of capturing these early moments of your baby’s life!
If you’re a new parent, you’re probably overwhelmed with all the decisions you need to make.Newborn photography doesn’t have to be one of them.
Let me guide you through the process and provide you with all the information you need to capture the early moments of your baby’s life.
SIDENOTE: I have two girls. Neither of them had professional newborn photos even though they DID have professional birth photography. With my oldest girl, I didn’t even know that studio newborn photography existed, and I even hired my wedding photographer to come photograph her birth. People thought I was crazy! I started getting professional photos done of my oldest when she was three months old at our house, but I desperately wish we had newborn photos done of her. With my second daughter, I had been working on taking photos for awhile, and while I had hired a professional birth photographer, Michelle, I thought I could do my daughter’s newborn photos myself. (http://pinkletoesblogstalker.com/blog/slumber-party-austin-birth-photographer/LOL, I was SORELY mistaken, hahaha! She wasn’t having it, and when I finally took her outside to try, what I got is funny to look at now that I know how to properly photograph newborns. So, while I love looking at those photos, I do wish I had hired a professional now.
Let’s dive into some of the most common questions about newborn photography.
“What should I look for when hiring a newborn photographer?” It’s important to choose a photographer who specializes in newborn photography and has experience working with infants. At my studio, I have years of experience working with newborns and their families. I’m dedicated to providing a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for you and your baby here in Moseley, Virginia. You also deserve to have someone who has CPR certification and specific, extensive medical training. As an occupational therapist, I specifically provide all of that for you as your Richmond, Virginia newborn photographer. I understand the importance of capturing these early moments, and I take pride in creating beautiful, timeless memories that you’ll cherish for years to come.
“What can I expect during a studio newborn photography session with you in Chesterfield, Virginia?”
During a newborn photography session, I’ll work to create a comfortable and safe environment for your baby, and guide you through the posing process. I always recommend including your family members in the photos, and I encourage parents and siblings to participate in this special moment. If you have any specific poses or props in mind, I’m always happy to incorporate your ideas and preferences into the session.
To capture the best moments, it’s important to schedule your newborn photography session as early as possible. This is ideally within the first three to four weeks of life. I recommend booking your session as soon as possible during your pregnancy to ensure availability.
Info:
So, for a studio newborn session, I have a standard set of seven table poses and two prop setups. Parent and sibling poses are in addition to this, but it always depends on baby’s disposition and comfort. I usually do baby’s photos first, then finish with parent and siblings. I recommend bringing the siblings towards the end of the session. That way, they don’t have to wait in a hot newborn studio being quiet with nothing to do. If you have particular poses that you have seen in my work, please feel free to suggest them! I use several different techniques to soothe and make sure baby is comfortable, with heat, vibration, shushing, use of a Paci if needed, and determining what works best.
“Do I need to bring anything?”
You don’t need to bring much to the session as most of the items your baby will need will be provided by the studio, including props, backdrops, and blankets. I do encourage you to bring a few personal items that you would like to incorporate into the photos. I also send a session prep email a few days prior to the session to ask for some particular baby items. This will also help the session go as easy as possible.
“When will I get my photos?”
After the session, you can expect to receive a proofing gallery with several fully edited images, and the remainder will be straight out of camera. Typically, that occurs within three weeks, but I may lengthen it to six weeks at most. I offer a range of packages that include both digital files and prints. I’m happy to work with you to create a customized package that meets your specific needs.“How much does newborn photography cost?”
Newborn photography sessions can range from $700 to $3,000, which depends on the package. I know this might seem like a significant investment, but keep in mind that newborn photography is a specialized service that requires a lot of time, effort, and equipment. I’m dedicated to providing high-quality images & products that you’ll cherish for a lifetime! Here is my current booking site. Feel free to ask me any questions!
