The Tee family lives in my neighborhood and first found me when looking to do family photos Midlothian VA. I have done two sessions with this family. In our first session we used a super cool red vintage truck.

For their second session, they booked a spring photo shoot with me in 2024. This time for family photos in Midlothian VA at Salisbury Studios. Kirk and Zenia brought their children, Kian and Zoe, plus Kirk’s parents, Tony and Eugene. They wanted a session that included grandma and grandpa, who had never had professional photos before!
I normally don’t do extended families for mini sessions unless they buy two slots. But I decided to make an exception this time because Grandma and Grandpa live in my neighborhood. Below I’m recapping the Tee family’s session, but head here if you want more details about my family photography!

ToggleWhat the Tee Family Wore for Their Midlothian VA Family Photos
The whole family wore cream, green, white, and beige. Kirk added a little color with a rust-colored hoodie jacket with plaid brown, gray, and black.
Both ladies wore dresses, and Grandpa wore a white shirt with khaki pants. Zoe wore a sage jumpsuit with an olive green jean vest. Kian wore a green long-sleeve shirt, white pants, and simple brown tennis shoes.
Extended Family Photos Inside the Greenhouse at Salisbury Studios

We photographed all six of them at the greenhouse, with most of the full extended-family photos inside. Of course, they specifically wanted photos of the grandparents with the kiddos too.

I also always photograph the two kids with their parents alone. Each kiddo gets something special with each parent, siblings together, and each child by themselves as well.

At one point, I asked the whole family who has the stinkiest breath in the mornings. That got a BIG laugh out of Grandma and big smiles all around!
A Playful Golden Hour Family Session
This was a pretty quick 25-minute session, so we kept everything playful and relaxed. We did all the sweet snuggling and funny body-humor jokes because that works really well with six- and seven-year-olds.
We also made sure we played several games, including London Bridge with Mom and Dad as the bridge. It was a beautiful golden hour sunset session and just playful and relaxed.
