Long road to baby
Kristen and Michael had been trying for several years for a baby. They had many heartbreaks but when they found out they were expecting Wesley, they wrote me, and we had a consultation. Kristen even tried on several of my maternity gowns, but they did not choose me as their maternity photographer. I have a higher investment than other local photographers, so sometimes people don’t choose me. I’m confident in my skills. But, then one week later, I received this email from Kristen.
“Good morning, Sarah. I know we talked last week and I told you I was going to go in a different direction for our maternity shoot, but I just wanted to get back with you because it’s been on my mind a lot that I really should work with you. I know how important these photos & memories are for our first little one and we can’t get a do over. I just absolutely love your work and it’s taken a long time and been a rough road for my husband and I to get here and we want the best!”
Um, what?! How cool is that?! Totally made my day that they considered me the best. So, we got to planning, and the day came when we met up at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Lawton, Oklahoma. It’s my favorite place to shoot almost all of my Oklahoma photography sessions.
We had a lot of laughs and some very tender moments too, but my favorite one will always be immortalized in the photo below. I asked Michael to whisper his favorite fruits and vegetables into Kristen’s ear in his sexiest voice. He said, “asparagus.” It became our joke from then on, and I’ll never forget it, hahaha!!!
We did those photos in the Parallel Forest which was beautiful. Kristen even wore a maternity gown from my favorite vendor Leah Maria Couture.
Then, we moved over the lake area and Kristen expressed to me all the emotion involved with the whole process. The happiness and pure love showed all over their faces, don’t you think?
I love being a maternity photographer. Next, meet their sweet Wesley, and see his newborn session here.
