Cancer sucks | Get those family photos now with your favorite Richmond photographer

family photos now with your favorite Richmond photographer, family sitting on grass looking at camera and smiling

You never know when life will throw you tremendous curveballs. What started as a mama begging for a Mother’s Day gift turned into so much more when last year Jason battled colon cancer. Kara and Jason live in my neighborhood in North Chesterfield and have four children, and our kids go to the same schools. Kara contacted me because she wanted family photos in time for her Mother’s Day gift, so we planned their session but then had to reschedule twice, once due to weather and once due to my stroke. (No, that’s not the point of this post 😉 They are NOW so glad they got their family photos now with your favorite Richmond photographer.

We had a blast doing their session down in Hopewell at Grant’s Headquarters, and Carter and Brooks were the life of the party. I delivered their Richmond family photos several weeks later and then began to chat with Kara about my own life stressors since she’s a licensed professional counselor. Check out her website here.

We never imagined that Jason would be diagnosed with colon cancer and go through chemotherapy in his 40’s, but thankfully, he recently turned 50, and they heard the best words they could have imagined: “All clear.” Kara told me recently, “I am forever grateful for these beautiful photos, because what if we weren’t blessed with a beautiful ending?” New recommendation is age 45 for a colonoscopy. Make sure you go get it done, and get those family photos now with your favorite Richmond photographer.
